The Blackwell Woodworks Avocado clock is my take on the classic egg shaped chairs of the mid century era. I used Walnut and Maple to recreate this classic design. The mahogany pedestal is turned on the lathe in the shape of a delicate flower stem. It looks beautiful in your bookcase or sitting proudly on your shelf, mantle, or wherever you display your fancy things. Measures 5" wide by 8" tall and 3" deep.

Most of the wood used in my clocks comes from the custom guitar factory where I've worked for more than 20 years. I love repurposing beautiful and exotic woods and refreshing them into cool pieces of art

A mid-century modern table clock handcrafted from mahogany and figured maple inlay. Inspired by classic car interiors and modernist design, built by hand in Los Angeles.


The Dashboard Clock takes its inspiration from the sculpted dashboards and fine materials of mid-century automobiles — a time when craftsmanship and design went hand in hand. I build each one by hand in my Los Angeles studio from solid mahogany and figured maple, balancing warmth and contrast in the inlay details.

The pedestal base is shaped in a cross form that echoes the structural balance of vintage automotive design. Compact yet substantial, the clock measures 5 inches wide, 6.5 inches tall, and 2.25 inches deep — perfect for a bookshelf, credenza, or desk. It’s finished in lacquer for a lasting, refined surface that highlights the depth of the wood.

Each piece is signed and fitted with a precision quartz movement for reliable performance. Optional engraving on the backplate makes this a thoughtful gift or collectible object — a modern piece of functional art that pays quiet tribute to the mid-century era.

A handcrafted mid-century modern mantel clock featuring a geometric triangular form in alternating maple and walnut tones. Built by hand in Los Angeles with a lacquer finish.

DESCRIPTION
The Pyramid Clock is my modern interpretation of a 1950s Mauthe design — a mid-century classic reimagined through fine woodworking and precision joinery. Each clock is handcrafted in my Los Angeles studio from solid walnut and lightly roasted maple, arranged in an alternating geometric pattern that gives the face a sense of rhythm and movement.

The angular body and tapered legs create a sculptural silhouette, making this piece feel both architectural and playful. Measuring 10 inches wide, 5.5 inches tall, and 2.25 inches deep, it sits beautifully on a shelf, mantel, or credenza as a statement of modern design.

Finished in lacquer for a deep, lasting sheen that enhances the contrast of the woods, each clock is signed, fitted with a precision quartz movement, and designed to last for generations.
