The Rhythm Clock – Mid-Century Modern Exotic Wood Inlay Clock by Eric Blackwell

from $400.00

A handcrafted mid-century modern mantel clock made from fine hardwoods and detailed with exotic wood inlay. Designed and built in Los Angeles with timeless craftsmanship and architectural balance.

The Rhythm Clock is my modern take on a mid-century classic — clean lines, subtle geometry, and the warmth of real wood. It’s handcrafted in my Los Angeles studio using a combination of exotic and domestic hardwoods, with each inlay carefully cut, matched, and finished by hand.

This piece measures 12 inches wide, 5 inches tall, and 2 inches deep — a substantial size that feels grounded and architectural whether on a shelf, bookcase, or mantel. I finish each clock in lacquer for a deep, lasting sheen that highlights the natural figure of the wood.

Many of the materials I use have a story — select tonewoods from my years of instrument making, now reimagined as sculptural design objects. Each clock is signed, numbered, and built to last.

Custom engraving is available on the backplate for a personal touch — a thoughtful way to commemorate a wedding, milestone, or special gift.
