The Arnold-Wise Clock reimagines the iconic starburst form with a refined, handcrafted touch. I designed this piece for a collector who wanted a modern statement clock that would bring warmth, color, and movement to their space. The circular “lollipops” — made from walnut and maple with dyed figured wood — are connected by solid brass rods that radiate from a sculptural walnut core.
Measuring 22 inches tall and 13 inches across, this clock balances playfulness with precision. The contrasting tones and geometric rhythm recall the optimism of mid-century design while highlighting the natural character of the wood. Finished in lacquer to enhance depth and tone, each clock is signed and fitted with black pearl hands and a precision quartz movement.
Many of the materials I use come from my years building custom guitars — reclaimed exotic woods repurposed into art objects with new life. I build each Arnold-Wise Clock in my Los Angeles studio as a one-of-a-kind piece, and I’m happy to discuss custom color combinations for your space.
