Psychedelic Trees is a collection of four imaginary trees built from circles, squares, and simple geometric shapes. It's retro, playful, and a little strange, with each tree having its own personality.
The entire piece is made from natural hardwoods inlaid into a solid maple background. There is no paint or stain used for color. All of the browns, reds, yellows, purples, and other tones come from the natural colors of the different wood species I've collected around my shop.
I got a little carried away with the frame on this one. I built it from multiple woods, layers, and levels, which somehow seemed appropriate for a piece about trees made entirely out of trees. I really like how it turned out.
The original measures 17 x 26 inches and is individually built by me in Los Angeles and finished in lacquer. I would be happy to make another version at a different size. Since every piece of wood is different, no two will ever be exactly alike.
Due to the amount of gluing and cutting on these projects, please allow 4-6 weeks for completion. Special arrangements can be made but sometimes things take longer than expected because of the crazy things that can happen during a complicated build like this. I put my heart and soul into these things and i will not compromise on quality in an effort to "hurry up." Thanks for understanding!
