Kaufmann House – Mid-Century Modern Marquetry Wood Art by Eric Blackwell

from $2,000.00

A handcrafted wooden interpretation of the iconic Kaufmann House in Palm Springs. Created with fine hardwoods, mid-century lines, and modern architectural detail.

Inspired by the legendary Kaufmann House in Palm Springs, this piece reimagines Richard Neutra’s architecture through my marquetry and inlay style. I used a mix of hardwoods — maple, mahogany, cherry, walnut, rosewood, and others — each chosen for its color, texture, and tone. A subtle touch of stain adds warmth to the trees and a cool blue depth to the swimming pool.

This work continues my exploration of mid-century design and architectural form through fine woodworking. Every piece is hand-cut, composed, and finished in my Los Angeles studio using traditional inlay techniques refined over two decades of guitar building and sculptural design.

For collectors who love modern architecture, natural materials, and precise craftsmanship, this piece bridges fine art and design.

Inquire about commissioning a custom marquetry interpretation of your own home or favorite architectural landmark.
